Multi-Million
$ Sale of Forge.com Charges to Top of New DNJournal Chart - $550,000
Sale Follows
We're heading
down the home stretch in the 2021 domain sales season and
the story line remains the same it has been the since the year
began - the domain aftermarket is still on fire. The $2,202,000
sale of Forge.com that we told you about in our Lowdown
section last weekend headlines our latest bi-weekly all
extension Top 20 Sales Chart with a $550,000
sale of Lender.com in the #2 spot.
George
Kirikos uncovered that sale of Forge.com to
private securities marketplaceForge
Global. As regular readers know, no one has done a
better job of finding and reporting previously unknown
blockbuster sales than George. He also pointed us to second
7-figure transaction involving BitBuy.com
this week.
That
one can't be charted because the deal involved both cash and
equity components. Still, the purchase by Bitbuy,
one of Canada’s largest crypto trading platforms, is well
worth noting with the seller receiving $1.5 million (US)
and a warrant for approximately $2.8
million (Canadiian) in either equity or cash upon exercise
of the warrant which will occur within one year after the
transfer of the domain. There is further reporting on that
deal here.
Earlier this week, Elliot
Silver at DomainInvesting.com
broke the news about the $550,000 sale of Lender.com
made by Brandforcebroker Stephen Byrne. That one helped the .coms
sweep the first five spots on the new leader board, with the first
four all being one-word dictionary domains, including another
six-figure sale, #3 Regional.com at $106,888 via SnapNames.
#5 TheKingdom.com, snapped the one-word string with a $39,999
sale at NameMarket.com.
The .coms piled up 12 of the
20 chart entries overall with NameJet
accounting for three of those. The new Namecheap
Market also aided the .com cause with a $20,221
sale of Namey.com, as did Tim Keller who sold #14 (tie) www360.com
for $20,000 in a private transaction.
Both the non
.com gTLDs (with five charted sales) and the ccTLDs (with
three on the Big Board) also continued to thrive in this bountiful
market. #6 Regal.co led the country code contingent with a £25,000
($33,250) sale atSedo.
Dynadotset
the pace for the non .com gTLDs with a pair of Ethereum-related
domains. They banked $30,000 apiece for ETH.black and
ETH.pink as those two tied for the #7 spot.

Keep in mind that these are the highest value
cash only sales that have been reported to us in the
past week. This column is meant to be an educational tool, not
a complete list documenting ALL high value domain

are kept private at the insistence of buyers, sellers or both.

Country
Codes
The ccTLDs were, of
course, led by the trio of five-figure sales you saw on the all
extension leader board above. The long-time giant in this category, Sedo,
accounted for all three of those with Regal.co at $33,250
setting the pace on our latest Country Code Top
20 Sales Chart.
Sedo went on to sweep 15 of
the 20 chart entries, including #4 BlueNet.de at $8,475.
SnapNames rounded out the first five with Emergent.io at
$5,766.
In that same way that Sedo
is the dominant sales platform in the country code arena, Germany's
.de has consistently put up the most sales in the TLD race. That
was again true this time around the track with .de claiming seven
chart entries. The only others with multiple entries were .io
with there and .co with two (of course, .co really made theirs
count by taking the top two spots on the elite list).

Non .com gTLDs (.net, .org and
others, including new gTLDs)
Things have really been heating
up in the non .com gTLD world in these closing weeks of
2021. That group racked up ten five-figure sales over the past
two weeks, led by the Ethereum twins - ETH.black and
ETH.pink - at $30,000 apiece via Dynadot. We posted
all of the five-figure sales in the all extension section above, so
the biggest sale in this category that you haven't seen yet is the #11
domain on our latest Non .Com gTLD Top 20 Sales Chart. That was
a $9,888 sale of Shipyard.xyz that DNGear made
via Dan.com.
DNGear, owned by Swetha
Yenugula, put a half dozen sales on the new leader board. Those,
coupled with additional ones from Sedo and SAV.com, gave
.xyz an easy win in the extension race with eight charted sales.
The only other TLDs with multiple chart entries were .org and .art
with two each.
