Over
the past month the mid-range has been the sweet spot in the
domain aftermarket - an environment that opened the door for a
wider range of TLDs to take places on our bi-weekly all-extension
Top 20 Sales Chart. We noted that when the inevitable
next wave of high end sales started rolling in, .coms
would return to their historic dominance and that's what
happened over the past couple of weeks. A trio of
six-figure sales kicked off a .com run that gave the world's
most popular extension the top six spots and 13 of 20
places overall on our latest leader board. A $399,995
sale of Goka.com that James Booth (DomainBooth.com)
made through Spaceship
set the pace.

|
|
Michael
Mann (DomainMarket.com)
kept the ball rolling with a $200,000 sale put together for him by Mark Daniel at DomainHoldings
(Update:
After publication, the .com domain name - that had been
reported by a party to the sale - was removed after receiving
requests from both buyer & seller). Mike went on to fill five slots on the elite list including #5
- a $94,888 sale of Kiven.com that he closed via
Atom.com.
John Bomhardt at Buy.Name joined the six-figure
trio at the head of the pack after selling #3 Eves.com for
$120,000 from a NamePros
Lander with Escrow.domains handling the
transfer.
A $1.1
million sale of Mom.com was also reported but that
was not a domain only sale. It was shown as a domain +
social handles sale to Static Media, a major digital
publisher known for brands like SlashGear, Tasting
Table and Glam. They reportedly bought
Mom.com (a popular existing website that remains
online) to absorb it into their own ecosystem. When a digital publisher buys an active site via a domain and handle agreement, they generally keep the site live, migrating the existing content catalog and user base over to their own servers and monetization
infrastructure. Andrew Miller at ATM Holdings/Hilco
Digital confirmed he handled the transaction but could not
comment further on it.
|
|
While
the .coms flexed a lot of muscle the other categories still
maintained their steady flow of solid sales. The non .com
TLDs took three places on the Big Board including a pair
in the top ten - a $77,000 sale of #7 Eve.dev at
TopDomains
and a $51,050 sale of #9 Shop.net at Sedo.
That Eve.dev sale is one of the year's ten biggest sales to
date in this category.
TopDomains also rang up #20 Maestro.trade at $19,888.
The
ccTLDs had their party hats on too with Atom.com's
$45,000 sale of #10 Gum.io leading a quartet of
country code domains on the honor roll. A bigger sale (in low
six-figures) of Deep.ai also closed but in an unusual
situation the seller, after posting the price on X.com,
quickly took it down, replacing with a note that he learned he
was not supposed to disclose it. This being the internet, the
number got reposted in multiple places before it was taken
down. Even so, when both parties to a sale ask that it not be
shared we will, in most cases, respect their wishes, as was
the case this week's #2 sale that we noted above (obvious
exceptions being sales that are already open for anyone to see
in public records).

Country
Codes
The .coms may have
stolen the spotlight but the ccTLDs had a very solid
couple of weeks piling up 16 five-figure sales, led by
Atom.com's $45,000 sale of Gum.io. Since we list all
five-figure and higher sales in the all extension section above,
that means the biggest sale on our latest Country Code Top 20
Sales Chart that you haven't seen yet goes all the way down
to the 17th rung on the ladder - a $9,072 sale of Cadence.co.uk
at DomainLore.uk.
Those two sales were
among just a handful of chart entries that didn't go to Sedo.
They wound up sweeping 14 of the 20 chart entries, including six
of the top seven. #2 Chance.de led their roster at $24,643.

Non .com gTLDs
The non .com gTLDs
got a big boost from TopDomains this time around the
track with with that venue accounting for five of the top ten
sales, including #1 Eve.dev at $77,000. Sedo
put five names in the top ten as well and piled up 10 of 20
entries overall with the $51,050 sale of Shop.net leading
their hit parade.
It is a very diverse
list with nine different TLDs represented. The .orgs
led the way with six entries, followed by the .nets with
four but three other TLDs took multiple places as well with .dev,
.love and .app each taking two spots. Here is how
the non .com gTLDs lined up for the two weeks ending Sunday,
