2023's
Solid Start for Domain Sales Continued With a Pair of 6-Figure Sales
Topping Latest Chart
Welcome to
our second bi-weekly domain sales report of the new year. The
early results from 2023 continue to be promising with
two more 6-figure sales topping our latest all extension Top
20 Sales Chart. A $300,000 sale of TXT.com,
brokered by Bassir.io,
led the way with Braden Pollock at LegalBrandMarketing.com
providing solid back up with his $120,000 sale of StoneAge.com.
The #3 domain just
missed the 6-figure mark. That was a $99,000 sale of ThisAV.com
at Sedo.
The price for this one likely got a boost from residual
traffic looking for a site that once existed on
the domain, however Sedo's sale was for the domain only.
Now
that we have a full month of sales data in the books we have
just put up ourfirst 2023
YTD Top Sales Charts. Those three charts (an
all-extension leader board plus a separate chart for the top ccTLD
sales and another for the top Non .com gTLD sales) have
been started with 20 entries each. They will expand with each
new bi-weekly report until we reach our Top 100 standard
for each category (that typically happens around the end of
the first quarter). With the arrival of the new charts, the 2022
Top 100 Charts have been moved to their permanent
home in our Domain
Sales Archive.
Returning
to the new 2023 sales that have come over the past two weeks,
a big ccTLD sale at Sedo - Normal.es at $65,000
- claimed the #4 spot in the Big Board. That was one of
three country code domains to crack the all extension Top 20.
The non .com gTLDs also took a bow with two entries on
the honor roll, led by a $12,000 sale of #16 (tie)
Fairplay.online in
a private transaction.
Everything
else went to the .coms (16 of the 21 entries overall)
with DomainName.com
accounting for four of those - all of which landed on the top
half of the leader board. Their quartet was led by #5 CloudTech.com
at $50,000 and #6 MoveUp.com at $42,000.

Keep in mind that these are the highest value
cash only sales that have been reported to us in the
past two weeks. This column is meant to be an educational tool, not
a complete list documenting ALL high value domain
sales. Such a list is impossible to produce because many sales
are kept private at the insistence of buyers, sellers or both.
Our procedure for verifying the accuracy of domain sales
reports is available here.
A half-dozen additional
five-figure sales were reported that landed just off the chart. GoDaddy
sold RSMI.com for $10,500 while Sedo sold Tee-Spezialtaeten.de

Country
Codes
After posting a $108,000 sale
in our last report with TopFX.eu, the ccTLDs came right
back with another strong one this week with Normal.es (.es is
the country code for Spain) attracting $65,000 at Sedo
to top our latest ccTLD Top 20 Sales Chart. Sedo followed that
one with a trio of five-figure .de sales to insure another
solid performance from this category.
Sedo, who has ruled the
ccTLD space for the past 20 years, went on to sweep all but one entry
on the new chart. That lone exception was a $4,988 sale of #14
(tie) Ingenium.ca made through Afternic.
Sedo's haul included nine .de
sales, giving Germany's popular ccTLD an easy win in the extension
race. Only two other TLDs had multiple chart entries - .co and
.in - and those were limited to two places each. The top .co was
#5 OneID.co at $8,500 and the leading .in (Indian ccTLD)
was #8 ForYou.in at $5,800.

ccTLD sales stacked up for the two weeks ending Sunday, Jan.

Non .com gTLDs
A pair of five-figure sales
set the pace for the Non .Com gTLDs
with Fairplay.online banking $12,000 in a private
transaction and NFTAUditor.org finding $11,865 at
Sedo to fill the first two slots on our latest bi-weekly Non .Com gTLD Top 20
Sales Chart. Sedo immediately struck again with a $9,810
sale of #3 GMSH.org.
The first five was rounded
out by an $8,900 sale of ChatGPT.net atDomain
Buy App and an $8,000 sale of Top.dog that
broker Mark Ghoriafi (MrPremium.com)
noted was the highest publicly reported .dog sale recorded to date.
The TLD race wound up in a
dead heat between .org and .net with each extension
claiming 7 spots on the elite list. Here is how the
non .com gTLD leaders stacked up for the two weeks
